It’s official, the UK prefers paying for big or small amounts with card!

12/09/2018

When was the last time you paid for something with cash?

The UK is on a one-way track to a cashless society as a recent report by The British Retail Consortium (BRC), reveals 76% of all retail sales are being made on debit & credit cards.

Consumers paid for £277.1 billion worth of goods on cards during 2017 which accounted for three-quarters of all retail sales, passing the 75% milestone for the first time in retail history.

The nation is also using cards for smaller and smaller payments which were traditionally dominated by cash, meaning the share of retail transactions declined by 0.5% and the share of retails shares fell by 1.2%.
